Position Highlights

The successful applicant will join the school with a focus on providing quality Catholic education, maximising student outcomes by offering a rich, relevant and holistic curriculum that is student centred, flexible and challenging.

This full-time, permanent role is scheduled to commence on Friday, 31 January 2025. We welcome applications from recent graduates as well (if applicable).

About You

As a Literacy Intervention (0.5 permanent) & Classroom Teacher (0.5 temporary), you work to ensure every student reaches their full potential through high-quality, collaborative and engaging pedagogy. The Literacy Intervention role is a dynamic and impactful program designed to provide daily, intensive, small-group instruction that enhances the core literacy teaching in the classroom. The aim is to elevate the literacy achievement of Year 1 students who are not meeting grade-level expectations. This is a 0.5 FTE permanent position.

In addition to the Literacy Intervention role, this position includes a temporary 0.5 FTE teaching component for 2025. The successful candidate will join the Year 1 teaching team, offering targeted support to diverse learners within the classroom.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a learning community, applying their pedagogical expertise to improve learning outcomes for all students.

To excel in this role, you will be able to:

work with the Assistant Principal, Instructional Specialist and Diverse Learning team to determine students suitable based on the parameters of the program
follow a timetable for instruction/intervention
to utilise Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment to locate reading levels to determine groupings and interventions
conduct and monitor intervention sessions
provide timely feedback to students, teachers and parents
provide continuing contact and monitoring of students who have completed the program.
create and implement engaging, rigorous planned learning experiences catering to the diverse needs of students
demonstrate sound knowledge in developing a K-6 Curriculum and the application of effective learning pedagogies
utilise formative and summative assessments to drive student progress
employ a data-informed approach to setting challenging learning objectives and providing constructive feedback
support the inclusive Catholic religious and cultural environment for students
demonstrate excellent classroom management skills focused on student well-being
integrate technology to enhance contemporary learning experiences.
Responsibilities: The role will also include but is not limited to:

direct teaching of groups of students and individual students
contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school
undertaking other classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal
participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; Family masses and Liturgical celebrations
undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
You will have attained:

a tertiary qualification in Education
eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead.
