Responsibilities
Manage Oracle databases (11g, 1+c, 23ai) and Unix/Linux OS (OL5, OL+) located at the Davenport Works location through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Configure and maintain database processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Implement and maintain robust backup & DR practices
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
Support Arconic Compliance activities by performing annual system testing for adherence to IT System and Audit requirements, assists audit teams and internal audit teams as required, and performs Disaster Recovery testing as required
Demonstrate knowledge of the practical application of systems and technology
Develop an understanding of the business processes
Demonstrate critical thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Operate within Arconic’s IT standards and conventions
Ensure appropriate methodologies, support processes, and procedures are followed
Develop and maintain strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrate ability to think through complex technical problems and identify and resolve gaps/risks

Arconic is currently in search of Oracle Linux Database Administrator to join our Global Rolled Products Team in Bettendorf, IA.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities
• Manage Oracle databases (11g, 1+c, 23ai) and Unix/Linux OS (OL5, OL+) located at the Davenport Works location through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configure and maintain database processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, math, or related subject.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• 5 years’ minimum experience in a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR).
• Experience working with Windows servers, including Active Directory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality.
• Ability to organize and plan work independently.
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
• Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure, and operations.
• Strong relationship skills and ability to interact with internal and external customers, other analysts, and management.
• Demonstrated proficiency in business modeling, process modeling, data modeling.
• Ability to introduce new ideas and concepts that enhance the customer experience, streamline operations, and provide optimal security that fits the organization’s needs.
• Solid understanding of systems analysis, design, and programming techniques
• Experience with translating business requirements into system functional and non-functional requirements.
• Knowledge of security methodologies, policies, standards, and best practices, including firewall rules, Active Directory, and low-level security.
• Knowledge of API or rest services integrations.
