About the Role:
Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant (PSA) on a part time basis to work on Jessie McPherson Private Hospital wards at Monash Medical Centre based in Clayton.
Being part of the Support Services team and reporting to the General Services Manager, PSAs play a vital role in supporting clinical team in the delivery of patient care. PSAs do a range of tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning, patient transfers, and equipment handling. Working as part of a team and on their own, PSAs are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and patient support across the hospital.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans
Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs
Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.
Bed making and discharge cleans
Patient discharge assistance
Mortuary transfers
Ward equipment, cleaning and transferring
Supporting clinical staff with patient care tasks as directed
Physical work including lifting and manual handling
Position 1: JMPH W31S
Days: Thursday & Friday
Hours: 1100 - 1930
Total Hours per Fortnight: 32
Position 2: JMPH Ward 31 South
Days: Tuesday
Hours: 0630 - 1500
Total Hours per Fortnight: 16
Position 3: JMPH Ward 31S
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Sunday (and Wednesday every 2nd week)
Hours: 1100 - 1930
Total Hours per Fortnight: 56
About You:
To ensure your success in this role, you will bring experience in patient services within a hospital, aged care or commercial cleaning setting with strong demonstrated knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices. You will have a passion for patient care and approach patients with respect and empathy. You are a reliable and punctual team member with great verbal and written communication skills; as well as intermediate computer skills and experience transferring patients using a Gzunda bed mover. Whether you work independently or as part of a team; you always follow manual handling, safety protocols, and procedural instructions.
You will also hold the following certificates:
Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Required)
Food Handlers Certificate – Level 1 (Required)
