Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will provide technical and domain expertise to both users and IT employees, covering all aspects of system applications including development, maintenance, support, selection, configuration, testing, implementation and/or enhancements.
Key responsibilities include:
Recommend/design structure and tools for systems, which meet business needs.
Deliver technical visualisation of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by system developers
Translate logical designs into physical designs, and produce detailed design documentations
Map work to user specification and remove errors and deviations from specification to achieve user-friendly processes
Set local or team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, advise on their application, and ensures compliance.
Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development process.
Prepare project and quality plans and advise systems development teams.
Deliver work packages, monitor performance and report progress.
Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required.
Support the team as part of the after business hours on-call roster

Working knowledge of Software/Application Development principles, lifecycle, models, and application development concepts.
Able to review and recommend new development techniques and vendor products and make recommendations on the acquisition of advanced technology
Validate functionality and performance of new development projects within the corresponding application system
Experience with complex, multi-layered, distributed systems.
Diagnose and solve technical issues that may arise during the application life cycle
Participate in projects and planning sessions as required
Applies effective Quality Assurance and process improvement activities
Demonstrated relevant IT experience in application development
Technology Domain Knowledge – Applications
Demonstrated ability to manage & resolve service and operational problems, including root cause analysis
Demonstrated experience of complex analysis, assessment, and delivery of appropriate recommendations
Proven ability to own tasks, issues & plans and manage/ drive them through to completion
Experience in driving work to completion that requires others to actually undertake the work or associated tasks
Solid experience in Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Kafka (Confluent Platform), HashiCorp Vault, Chef, Java, Bash, Python, Git
Exposure to: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, PagerDuty, Dynatrace
Tertiary level qualification and/or relevant experience
