As a Human Capital (HC) Manager in our HC Services team, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues and support our people experience. Working closely with staff and Partners, you’ll help guide and coach on challenging and sensitive situations they need support with.

As a Human Capital (HC) Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Serve as a trusted advisor to Partners/leaders with a focus on creating a meaningful work experience for our staff aligned with our People Value Proposition.

Coach Partners/leaders to increase their leadership effectiveness, including consulting on performance or employee relations issues, building familiarity and trust to enhance working relationships, and advancing inclusion and equity through education/training.

Work collaboratively with peers, the HC Services Senior Manager, and HC Senior Managers/Director to drive a consistent/equitable (“one-firm”) approach to our work.

Act as a subject matter expert and provide value-add coaching on employment-related issues (e.g., wellness discussions, performance management, data breaches, personal relationships, work refusals, etc.), ensuring consistency and alignment with established governing regulations, the firm’s HC policies, and our Code of Conduct.

Consult and mentor Partners/leaders on issues related to legal, procedural, compliance, employee relations, talent acquisition, total rewards, and performance management.

Identify trends and provide insights to HC Senior Managers to contribute to the HC strategy and the overall people experience.

Perform other responsibilities related to the day-to-day management of our people, including terminations of staff, absence management, salary reviews, collaborating with HC specialist teams on employee relations matters (Ethics, Independence, Legal, Risk, etc.), and managing escalations from the supporting HC Operational Excellence team.

Provide ad-hoc support and projects as requested by the HC Senior Managers and Director.

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve

Relevant experience in a series of progressive HR roles, ideally within a professional services firm/matrix organization.

An undergraduate degree with demonstrated on-going learning efforts (Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) designations are an asset.

An in-depth understanding of human resources management: recruitment, compensation and benefits, performance management, talent management, staff development, employee relations and their link to business strategy.

Demonstrated ability to build and manage trusting relationships with key leaders and internal business Partners with a commitment to exceptional client service.

Excellent project management and prioritization skills in managing multiple deadlines and complex projects. Able to move effortlessly between strategic topics and day to day HC activities.

Proven ability to coach senior individuals and influence as appropriate to manage stakeholder expectations and ensure successful outcomes.

Strong critical thinking skills and ability to assess situations strategically, navigate new and changing situations, and develop a collaborative approach.

Fast learner, strong technical skills, and open to implementing next generation HR skills (process automation, people/data analytics, Generative AI, and other digital skills).

Open to new ways of doing things and continuous improvement.

A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside and/or coaching diverse people and perspectives
