The College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) invites applications to join our team as a Pre-Award Grant Administrator. This position is based in Pullman and offers flexibility for remote and hybrid work accommodation.
The CAHNRS Office of Research is seeking a detail oriented, organized, and skilled problem solver to join our growing team of professionals in supporting CAHNRS Mission of improving the quality of life for the people of Washington state and our global community. As the Pre-Award Grant Administrator, you will be managing pre-award activities for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences within the Grants Team using knowledge of grant and contract management rules and regulations, your technical expertise, and your analytical skills. You will contributes information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross functional team, perform pre-award activities while ensuring effective and efficient workflow, and adhere to quality standards for faculty and staff.
Pre-award activities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting departmental faculty/principal investigator (PI) in the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals
Ensures all applications meet agency and university guidelines and published time tables and deadlines
Ensures all applications meet agency and university guidelines and published time tables and deadlines, including management of the Just-In-Time process
Ensures proposals are entered and routed in a timely manner for further review Confers with PI and Pre-award support staff at collaborating institutions to secure necessary sub-awards documents for proposals
Assists the PI in the development of budgets and budget justification which includes proofing the budget for inconsistencies and ensuring accuracy
Reviews budgets for consistency with sponsor, monitors compliance with agency and University regulations regarding submission
Verifies all financial information to include application of the appropriate overhead rate for the project
Advises the PI on administrative requirements in preparing proposal submissions and on budget adjustments and revisions necessary to meet the sponsor requirements.
Coordinates and reviews proposals for consistency, accuracy, and completeness with sponsor guidelines on budget, format, font size and page limits excluding narrative content (obtain and review sponsor guidelines)
Monitors and facilitates proposal process through the routing process in compliance with university procedures and institutional signatures, obtains signatures as needed.
Works effectively with other offices (central, school, departments, divisions, RAS units) on research proposals
Prepares high-quality written documents
Analyzes data and formulates conclusions
Provides training to individuals throughout the college responsible for grant pre and post award management as needed
Performs related responsibilities as required.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement.
Monthly Salary: $5,137 to $6,906 | Range 55 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated grants administration or grants/contracts experience in which developing, monitoring, and ensuring outcomes/compliance was required.
Demonstrated understanding of grant agreements and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to develop and meet goals and deadlines.
Exceptional English written and oral communication skills.
Ability to use automated spreadsheets and other tools for financial analysis and reporting.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to maintain positive working relationships with others.
