Job description, work day and responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership: Define and advocate for the vision and strategy of technical programs, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives. Develop and manage a portfolio of short-term client requests and long-term projects, balancing resources and priorities effectively.
• Collaboration and Influence: Work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including engineering, product, and client teams, to initiate, prioritize, and execute projects. Influence the direction of projects and drive collaboration to achieve successful outcomes.
• Execution Excellence: Own the end-to-end delivery of technical programs, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Drive the technical roadmap, making data-driven decisions to navigate complex technical challenges and trade-offs.
• Customer Focus: Engage with clients to understand their needs and gather feedback on projects. Ensure that customer goals are met through effective operational and launch plans, continuously monitoring and responding to customer feedback to improve products and services.
• Delivering client value more quickly and in a cost-effective manner by building, enhancing and driving adoption of OneMSCI Shared Services Platforms across all MSCI businesses.
• AI-Powered Innovation: Utilizing AI tools to drive innovation and improve all aspects of the platform.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for managing short-term client requests (4-12 weeks) and long-term technical projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
• Coordinate closely with multiple stakeholders, including clients, engineering teams, product managers, and other internal and external partners, to align resources and priorities effectively.
• Maintain transparency of information throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of progress, risks, and changes in a timely manner.
• Comprehend client requests and effectively break them down into actionable tasks for individual teams, ensuring clarity of objectives and deliverables.
• Implement robust project management practices to track progress, manage risks, and ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing project outcomes, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing best practices in program management.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle to ensure their needs are fully understood and met.
• Lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, promoting collaboration, accountability, and excellence in execution.
• Bachelor’s Degree or above in computer science.
• Preferred 12+ years of experience, 6 years of which must be as a hands-on Technical Program Manager building and launching cloud services, web applications, or platforms and delivering awesome user experiences.
• Have experience in starting from scratch to define and build the minimum viable product and iterate over time to launch and maintain a stable product line.
• Prior engineering development experience is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience delivering financial, analytics, SaaS, or other cloud-native services on any cloud platform, e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Proven experience in owning and driving the ‘What & Why’, technical depth to influence the ‘How’, driving execution across globally matrixed teams, making reversible decisions, and critical trade-offs.
• Experience in defining success metrics & outcomes and making data-driven decisions to influence feature priorities.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, specifically writing skills and formal presentation skills to engineers, leadership team, non-technical stakeholders, and customers.
