Full job description
The Crown Response Office was established in September 2024 to coordinate and facilitate cross-government decision making and implement the Crown's response to the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry. The Office sits within the Public Service Commission. The creation of the Office within a central Government agency was a key recommendation in the Royal Commission's final report, Whanaketia - through pain and trauma, from darkness to light.

The Senior Advisor Project Delivery supports the Manager Programme Planning and Delivery and works closely with the Principal Advisor Project Delivery to support the delivery of tangible and timebound elements of the Crown Response Office work programme. This role contributes to the design, development, and implementation of projects that meet organisational objectives while ensuring operational excellence.

The Senior Advisor reports to the Manager Programme Planning and Delivery, and supports the Principal Advisor Project Delivery to coordinate and deliver Crown Response Office led projects, including but not limited to the Redress implementation, National Day of Reflection and the Survivor Support and Recognition Fund, ensuring these are delivered with efficiency, integrity, sensitivity and are trauma informed. This role requires liaison with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

Work alongside the wider Crown Response Office to shape and deliver advice to Ministers on project delivery and implementation options.
Support the translation of policy into practical, operational frameworks and project plans.
Provide expertise on project delivery approaches and best practices that align with policy goals and legislative requirements.
Monitor and respond to changes in audience, policy, and operational needs to adapt delivery approaches.
Participate in inter-agency working groups focused on system design and project implementation.
Collaborate with the stakeholder engagement team to gather insights and ensure the system and project designs reflect diverse needs and perspectives.
Support the development of phased implementation strategies that balance policy objectives with operational capabilities.
Lead and coordinate the delivery of tangible, timebound project components with efficiency, integrity, and sensitivity.
Implement processes that ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and accessibility standards.
Build and maintain trusted, collaborative relationships with government agencies, community organisations, and other key partners.
Support communication and engagement strategies that foster understanding and buy-in from all stakeholders.
Act as a liaison between operational teams and policy groups to ensure alignment and timely feedback loops.
Ensure project activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and standards.
Provide accurate and timely data, insights, and reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders to inform decision-making.
Contribute to responses for official information requests and other formal correspondence as required.
You will ideally bring:

Proven experience working across policy and operational teams in a complex, multi-agency environment.
Strong understanding of project management and delivery, including translating policy into implementation plans.
Experience facilitating or contributing to inter-agency working groups.
Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities, able to deliver innovative solutions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including conveying complex information clearly and sensitively.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement and relationship management at senior levels.
Appreciation of issues and concerns relevant to population groups impacted by abuse in care.
Knowledge of public sector delivery systems and legislative frameworks.
Knowledge of te ao Maori, tikanga and kawa and/or be open to developing a sound understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti on today's society and public service.
A commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
