Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group's analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk , Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Decision Sciences job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function (CCS - Credit & Fraud Decision Systems):

Credit Control Services (CCS), is a first line of defence control function in WPB, with the core purpose of supporting the entire customer credit journey, and creating sustainable outcomes for the Customer and the Bank.

GAC Credit and Fraud Decision Systems under WPB Credit Control Services is mainly responsible for the delivery and support of the Credit and Fraud risk management tools, systems and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decision Engine Centre of Excellence for multiple Account Originations/Management and Fraud Risk systems and supporting the Credit Bureau Management. We facilitate the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decision engine. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information Technology team and the end users.

The core functions include strategy deployment, data validations, process improvement, system documentation, providing consulting, guidance and delivering comprehensive risk management platforms to support risk management intelligence, analytics, MI generation, and ETL along with data management.

The Opportunity:

Decision Sciences job family is structured to address business problems with quantitative solutions like building of predictive algorithms / forecasting / scenario simulations etc.. Members of this Job Family are differentiated by their capability of converting a business problem into a quantitative construct, solve it with available statistical / mathematical methods (following the right rigour), engage with IT to implement and finally interpret the model outcomes in business language. The range of business problems may cover areas of business growth, improving customer experience, limiting risk exposure, capital quantification, enhancing internal business processes etc. They are required to, as necessary, embed agile & exploratory practices into their approach, justify the choice of appropriate methods to various internal and external reviewers. This talent group is expected to keep themselves apprised of latest developments and industry practices around emerging methodologies, techniques etc. and bring those in-house by applying them for better outcomes. A decision sciences job family member should be able to:-
β€’ Apply relevant analytical methods / algorithms to get actionable insights from HSBC's internal (both structured and unstructured) and external data sources
β€’ Partner with IT / Data Engineering teams to create deployment road-map
β€’ Provide actionable solutions with clear articulation of recommendations for the business stakeholders across geographies
β€’ Independently manage delivery of analytics projects by working with business partners across regions / geographies
β€’ Work in an agile model in a cross functional set-up

The job accountabilities of this role are:
β€’ The job holder is required to ensure the provision of complete, true and accurate analysis and report to functional management and senior executives under minimum supervision of his / her line manager, in order to facilitate effective decision making.
β€’ The nature of work will require the role holder to take quick decisions in situations where complete information/data might not exist and he/she would need to apply business knowledge & intuition to make best case recommendations
β€’ The role holder shall also be expected to guide and Analysts from a functional perspective and help them gain business understanding.
β€’ In this role, the job holder will be under partial supervision and will undergo on the job training, however it is vital that the person in this role is able to learn new tasks very quickly. The role holder will be expected to execute on tasks/projects, once provided initial directional guidance.
β€’ The role holder shall be expected to solve complex technical/business problems on his/her own without involving his/her line manager. The role holder will be expected to be responsible for thorough quality check (QC) of their own deliverables, and follow the departmental QC procedures as laid down by their line managers. They will also be expected to create departmental QC guidelines & ensure their adherence by his/her functional reports
β€’ The role holder shall also be expected to be the primary SPOC for their assigned projects, for the business partner. In this role, they are supposed to set the correct expectations with respect to deliverables, TAT, follow ups etc. They are expected to actively manage the projects and bring to light potential road blocks
β€’ Be able to execute/deliver against defined tasks. Develop new solutions/framework for the business problems.
β€’ To be able to work independently on medium complexity tasks that would involve frequent changes to the process.
β€’ Develop business domain knowledge and good working knowledge of tools [SAS, SQL, VBA, Unix, Qlik, R, Python and any other BI tools & Data technologies.]
β€’ Interfaces with business/functions to translate business requirements into executable instructions/technical.
β€’ Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners
β€’ Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.

What you'll do:

β€’ Support the definition and design of Decision Systems Technology Strategy i.e. build Cloud based Cognitive decision infrastructure for implementation of Advance Analytics with performance at scale.
β€’ Deliver the CCS Decision Optimization program objectives related to development and implementation of Machine learning models, access to new external data and improvement of Credit Straight through processing, Turnaround time etc.
β€’ Join up with WPB teams to deliver a consistent Cloud based Decision Infrastructure across Underwriting, Originations Fraud and Account Management.

β€’ Deliver & execute the roll out & change implementation of Decision Systems (SAS ID) across any HSBC market.

Management of Risk/Internal Controls/Compliance:
β€’ The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
β€’ The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
β€’ The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
β€’ This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators. Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Eligibility Criteria -
β€’ Atleast 2+ year of experience with Master's degree or equivalent from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in computer science, information systems or other engineering specializations.
β€’ Proven expertise on SAS/ Python/ PCSM programing is a MUST.
β€’ Minimum 2+ years of successful track record of leading technology (functional) projects with aggressive timelines across the organization
β€’ Experience on Vendor Decision or Analytics product(s) is preferred. E.g. SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Decision Manager/Intelligent Decision /RTDM, Experian SMg3 / Powercurve, FICO TRIAD, Blaze Advisor, Pega, Provenir etc.
β€’ Investigative and consultancy mind with penchant for the latest technologies and continuous learn and adapt capability.
β€’ Strong communication, stakeholder management, presentation and interpersonal skills.
β€’ Strong problem solving skills, adaptability to change and changing work priorities and ability to drive results.
β€’ Ability to work under pressure and achieve agreed deadlines; work on multiple items concurrently where required. Ability to operate well across cultures and in multi-cultural diverse work environments.
β€’ Knowledge of Risk Underwriting processes or exposure to process design, re-engineering and managing change. Exposure to Banking Analytics or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or related field will be good to have.
β€’ Bachelor's/Master's degree in any of the discipline like Computer Science, IT ,Operations Research, Economics , Mathematics from a reputed university or MCA from a reputed university.
