Full job description
Our client specialises in Managed Services, Professional Services, Security, Cloud Infrastructure, IaaS, SaaS, Servers, Storage, & Networking. They are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join the team to assist their clients with systems design, deployment, maintenance, and technical support.
A key element of this role is to identify and problem-solve to deliver effective solutions confidently. You will be able to make decisions based on timeframes, objectives, risks, implications, and costs. Ideally, you will have the ability to contribute to the development and growth of the client's product offering.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of advanced IT systems, infrastructure, and cloud solutions.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define and document comprehensive system requirements.
Oversee the implementation and deployment of complex IT systems, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Assume a hands-on role in configuring servers, network devices, storage, and cloud resources.
Conduct rigorous testing and validation of systems before production deployment.
Develop and implement robust monitoring solutions to proactively track system performance, security, and availability.
Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Establish and enforce advanced security and disaster recovery measures and policies to protect systems and data.
Identify and address complex performance bottlenecks, optimizing system performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, cybersecurity experts, and helpdesk/support teams.
Key Attributes:
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with:
At least 5 years of System Engineer experience (preferably with an MSP) Proven experience in the design, implementation, and support of Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID.
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (latest versions), Windows 10/11, and Active Directory, including Group Policy management.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert, or similar) are highly desirable.
Proven experience in the support and implementation of Windows Infrastructure. Proven network experience and familiarity with routing and VPN
Ability to assess risks, identify vulnerabilities, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across on-premises and cloud environments.
Working knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and Zero Trust Architecture.
Experience implementing and supporting security controls, compliance policies, and threat protection within Microsoft environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to high-level infrastructure projects from planning through to execution.
Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to client engagement and service delivery, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
High level of accuracy in documentation, configuration, and change management.
