We are currently looking for an experienced and innovative leader to spearhead the establishment, growth, and leadership of a Knowledge Management (KM) function within our Engineering division. This pivotal role will involve developing a cohesive strategy for capturing, managing, and deploying knowledge assets to enhance engineering efficiency, customer experience, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical content expertise and knowledge management strategies, utilizing advanced technologies such as augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), centralized document systems, and data management tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management Strategy:
- Design and execute a comprehensive KM roadmap in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Establish and maintain a centralized, scalable document/knowledge repository to oversee engineering and customer-facing information assets.
Technical Content Development:
- Supervise the creation and upkeep of technical content, encompassing manuals, training materials, troubleshooting guides, and multimedia resources.
- Ensure content accuracy, engagement, and accessibility while catering to both internal (engineering teams) and external (customers) requirements.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead a diverse team comprising engineers, content strategists, technical writers, multimedia developers, and data specialists.
- Collaborate with cross-functional units like product development, customer support, and marketing to synchronize content with business and customer demands.
- Foster a KM community of practice to construct a corporate knowledge base and drive continuous enhancement efforts.
Data and Documentation Management:
- Implement a standardized approach to content creation and management to enable reuse across multiple formats.
- Develop processes for maintaining, monitoring, and enhancing master data (MDM) for parts and components to ensure readiness for eCommerce and customer portals.
- Manage design specifications, architectural knowledge, and operational insights for internal teams.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies:
- Explore and integrate emerging technologies like AR/VR to elevate training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Utilize digital tools for external knowledge management, such as interactive manuals and 3D models.
Performance Optimization:
- Utilize metrics, user feedback, and analytics to continually enhance KM processes adhering to industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and data security protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced certifications in Knowledge Management, Technical Communication, or Instructional Design are advantageous.
- 20+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity within knowledge management or technical content development.
- Proficiency in content management systems, multimedia development tools, and data management.
- Familiarity with AR/VR, AI technologies, and 3D modeling software like SolidWorks is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication skills, and experience managing diverse, multi-regional teams.
- Change management experience is a plus.
- Operational compliance within set policies, priorities, and budget constraints.
- Implementation of effective engineering methods and provision of technical guidance for engineers.
- Optimization of component, material, and tool utilization.
