Level 4, $71,54+ - $75,247 p.a., plus up to 17% employer superannuation
Full-time, ongoing appointment
The Opportunity
Join our team in a vibrant and varied role where you'll play a key part in keeping our research and teaching facilities running smoothly! As our go-to for operations and administration support, you'll ensure that our infrastructure and equipment are always in top shape. Additionally, you'll be at the heart of our Goods Received operations, handling the delivery, receipt, and distribution of vital materials to our researchers, academic staff, and technical teams. Please note, this role may require occasional travel to other UniSC campuses to provide operational support, so flexibility is essential.
You will
provide technical support for the successful operation, coordination, and administration of research and teaching facilities at the UniSC Sunshine Coast campus (Sippy Downs) and nearby campuses such as the Thompson Institute;
maintain all research and teaching facilities to a high standard, applying technical training and expertise to problem solve, while ensuring Good Laboratory Practice and adherence to policies, processes, and regulations.;
ensure waste management streams are efficient and compliant in research facilities. Knowledge and interpretation of acceptable disposal limits, under general direction;
provide goods received or dispatched information and advice, guidance and information to Academic, Technical and Professional staff; and
facilitate domestic and international packaging and sending of materials, in alignment with compliance requirements and UniSC processes.
About you
You will possess exceptional organisational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail. Proactive and self-reliant, you’ll take the initiative to ensure the smooth operation of our laboratories. As a natural team player, you’ll thrive in a collaborative environment, consistently delivering timely client service even in fast-paced settings. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office will further enhance your ability to excel in this role.
You will possess:
completion of an associate diploma with relevant work-related experience in a research, clinical or teaching laboratory, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
previous experience in research, clinical or teaching laboratories, including experience handling chemicals and biologicals, preparing general laboratory reagents, adhering to correct procedures, health and safety guidelines and laboratory practices.
an understanding of chemical safety in a laboratory environment, including dangerous goods classes, Scheduled Medicines and Poisons, and Chemicals of Security Concern.
effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to:
communicate effectively verbally, in listening, and in writing;
operate effectively both as a member of a team and independently;
use initiative in adapting to change and new situations;
work under general direction in a high-volume work environment.
a current driver's licence is essential.
