What you'll be doing
Joining our team as a Clinical Coder! In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes of care using the ICD-10-AM classification system while adhering to Australian Coding Standards
While Also:
Coding inpatient episodes by analysing medical records and using Solventum Codefinder.
Entering coded data into the Patient Administration System (PAS) and complete cancer registration notifications.
Adhering to ethical coding practices, ensuring compliance with the Clinical Coding Practice Framework.
Monitoring and report discrepancies in Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) during the coding process.
Participating in audits, training, and team meetings to enhance coding accuracy and data quality.
Opportunities are available to join the WSLHD Casual Coding Pool, providing the chance to work across a broad spectrum of cases throughout Western Sydney. Please be advised that all casual coders are required to successfully complete and comply with mandatory training requirements, including onsite training sessions, to uphold consistent standards and ensure compliance within our service.

Selection Criteria:
Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding qualification (eg. HIMAA) or a Health Information Management degree and/or significant coding experience in a tertiary hospital.
A minimum of 12 months experience in clinical coding using ICD-10-AM classification system and sound knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards.
Demonstrated detailed understanding of DRG assignment and the relationship between Clinical Coding and Activity Based Funding.
Demonstrated experience using computerised systems such as Solventum Codefinder software and Patient Administration System (PAS).
Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload and competing priorities, including the ability to meet set deadlines.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
Commitment to continuing professional development and to working in a continuous quality environment.
