The Role
This is a full-time role on a fixed-term contract from February 2025 until August 2025, with the possibility to extend. Located in the NZ Young Farmers National office in Templeton, Christchurch.
As the Contest Events Coordinator, you'll play a crucial role in planning, producing, and executing high-quality in-person NZYF Contest events, with a focus on FMG Young Farmer of the Year at all 7 Regional Finals and Grand Final. This exciting position offers the opportunity to:
2IC to support the Contest Events Manager
Take ownership of the FMG Young Farmer of the Year component of the Contest Season
Support the Contest Events Manager in delivering innovative and memorable events
Coordinate logistics, manage event templates, and ensure standardised delivery
Contribute to stakeholder management and foster partnerships
Travel throughout New Zealand, including weekend and overnight stays
Event management for FMG Young Farmer of the Year Contest Events at Regional Finals and Grand Final
Contest event research, planning, and development
Coordination with module hosts, stakeholders, and contestants
Administrative support and logistics management
Stakeholder relationship management and communication
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Event Planning or Project Management
Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Strong passion for the primary sector and food and fibre production
Exceptional customer service skills
Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint
Ability to work autonomously and contribute to a team
Strong relationship-building skills

Please note:

Some travel, weekend and evening work will be required as part of this role.
The role is based in Templeton with flexible work arrangements that allows some work from home.
