A chance to thrive

We’re looking for a Credit Risk Specialist to work in our existing customer credit strategy team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc, for a 12-month fixed term contract role.

You’ll operate within a high-performing team in the first line of defence, to set and optimise the strategy for managing the credit risk of existing credit card customers, that supports sustainable growth and is within Risk Appetite limits.

What you’ll be doing

Developing and executing the credit and affordability strategies and rules for managing the credit exposure to existing customers, operating within credit risk appetite constraints and delivering good customer outcomes.
Identifying and evaluating new trade opportunities for lending to existing customers.
Monitoring monthly MI to evaluate the performance of back book credit strategies and affordability against expectations. Ensure lending remains within Risk Appetite and driving correct action on segments that are outside of expectations.
Identifying and evaluating new data sources, technologies and tools that can be used to make better lending decisions for existing customers and/or drive operational efficiencies. Creating the business case to drive the adoption and implementation of these.
Collaborating positively with a wide range of stakeholders within Credit Risk, Second Line Risk, Credit Risk Modelling, Commercial and Finance.

We need you to have

Strong technical knowledge of Credit Risk and Portfolio Management.
Previous experience within a Credit Risk function or similar analytical role.
Proficient in data extraction and manipulation using SAS/SQL and MS Excel.
Excellent numeracy skills and ability to understand and solve problems.

And if you have any of these, even better

Ability to communicate results of analysis effectively using a range of tools.
Good understanding of credit bureau data and characteristics.
Experience in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.

We don’t expect you to tick every box, and if you feel you hit most of the brief, it’s worth exploring to further develop your career here with us.

What’s in it for you

Prepare for your retirement with our colleague pension scheme.
Private Medical Insurance (WL2+) and virtual GP Service 365 days a year.
Performance related annual bonus.
Indulge in a generous holiday allowance with a minimum of 7.2 weeks, with the opportunity to buy more.
Embrace the benefits of our Colleague Clubcard, enjoy a 10% discount that increase to 15% every payday (worth up to 2K). As an added perk, we’ll give you a second card to share with someone else.
Benefit from our family-oriented initiatives, encompassing enhanced maternity leave pay, a shared parental leave policy, and a generous paid paternity leave.
A place to get on - take advantage of our ongoing learning opportunities and training, to help you achieve the job and career you want.

Join us at this exciting time and bring your talent, expertise, and skills to join our existing colleagues and make a difference to our customers, community, and planet.
