General Accountant

Collective Works provides boutique tax, accounting, bookkeeping and business advisory services. Focusing on small to medium sized businesses, Collective Works assist with everyday financial, accounting and business requirements.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have a broad range of responsibilities for several clients including:

Tasks Include:

o assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies

o preparing financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies

o conducting financial investigations, preparing reports, undertaking audits and advising on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation

o examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure

o providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements

o providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations

o preparing taxation returns for individuals and organisations

o liaising with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements

o introducing and maintaining accounting systems, and advising on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems

o maintaining internal control systems

o may appraise cash flow and financial risk of capital investment projects

o strong communication skills

Requirements

o bachelor degree or higher qualification

o At least 3 years recent experience in a private practice accounting firm

o The ability to meet strict deadlines

o Previous experience in a similar role

o Good communications skills both written and verbal

o The ability to work as part of a team

o The ability to be diligent and multitasker

o An ambitious and driven mindset

o Strong Excel skills

o Experience with Xero and Practice Manager (ideal not essential)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $74,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year
