This is an office-based role, offering up to 3 or 4 full days per week, with flexibility to accommodate slightly more or fewer hours. Salary will be tailored to reflect the candidate’s experience and expectations. Please include your hourly salary expectations in your application.
We are a friendly firm of Chartered Accountants based in Leicester. We are highly regarded by our clients and offer a client-focused accountancy and tax service. Our client base is diverse and includes sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in accountancy practice who can hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will be qualified (ACA, ACCA, CTA, AAT, or ATT) or QBE (qualified by experience) with significant, relevant experience.
This is a hands-on role and the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of accountancy and taxation work, liaising directly with clients and handling new client enquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of personal and corporate taxation, double entry bookkeeping, good Excel skills and experience with accounting packages such as Tax Calc, Xero, FreeAgent, QuickBooks and VT Transactions.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Bookkeeping: Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping tasks for clients. Ensuring that all financial records are accurately maintained and up to date, and reviewing any bookkeeping work completed by junior staff.
Accounts production: Preparing and reviewing sole trader, partnership and limited company accounts. Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and that accounts are fully ready for final sign-off by the firm Director.
Tax returns: Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns for clients. Ensuring all tax computations are correct and that submissions are made on time, addressing any complex tax issues that arise.
Payroll: Processing payroll (including RTI submissions and payslip distribution) and monthly CIS returns for clients. Handling any complex payroll issues and ensuring all filings and submissions are completed accurately and on schedule.
Client management: Managing relationships with clients and acting as their primary point of contact. Coordinating the end-to-end delivery of services for clients and proactively resolving any queries to ensure client satisfaction. Onboarding new clients by preparing engagement letters and completing necessary AML checks, with minimal oversight from the Firm Director.
Resolving matters: Liaising with HMRC, Companies House and other relevant organisations on behalf of clients and the firm.
