Defence Recruiting (DR) aims to meet the recruit targets set by each of the Services, while supporting the quality and diversity required by the NZDF. Quality means recruiting people who will perform and contribute to the organisation over time. Diversity means generating a diverse workforce by recruiting from all talent pools.

You will be a critical part of the Defence Recruiting team as you help facilitate candidates wanting to join the military with the New Zealand Defence Force. This role works closely with military recruiters supporting candidates through the selection process for Army, Navy and Airforce.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

Providing effective communication and regular feedback to the candidates throughout the recruitment and selection process.
Transitioning and supporting candidates through the recruitment process, from application stage to on boarding.
Arranging and monitoring candidate assessments and pre-selection activities.
Maintaining and updating candidate records within the PCMS Candidate Management System.
The role is based out of our Manukau Defence Careers office.

This is a fixed term opportunity until mid-August 2026, covering paternity leave.

You will excel in busy, high-volume environments while working well under pressure and providing exceptional customer service to our future recruits. Along with a positive `can do' attitude, you will need to be a friendly, team player who is flexible, willing to learn and have the ability to quickly adapt to changing needs and priorities. You will be equally comfortable working on your own and in isolation from time to time.

To be successful in the role, you will also need:

Previous experience within an administration or customer service role.
Ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all times.
Work independently and pro-actively manage your time, while remaining part of the team.
Make common sense, solutions-based approaches to any problems that arise.
Preferably have some knowledge and experience with Salesforce/ PCMS candidate management system.

Low Level Security Clearance

You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
If you do not meet the minimum criteria, unfortunately, your application will not be accepted. We do welcome your application at a time when you will meet the requirements.
