THE OPPORTUNITY
The BC Blueberry Council is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Executive Director to lead our organization into its next phase of growth and impact. This is a unique opportunity to head a dynamic council and champion the continued success of BC’s blueberry industry.
As Executive Director, you will be responsible for implementing the Council’s strategic vision, guiding day-to-day operations, and ensuring alignment with our mission and values. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, lead a dedicated team of staff and contractors, and serve as the public face of BCBC with stakeholders across industry and government.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring
Manage human resources and foster a collaborative workplace culture
Lead the organization’s operational planning and implementation
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with members, partners, and government bodies
Represent BCBC in public and industry forums to advance key initiatives and policy priorities
Ensure compliance with governance and reporting requirements
Support the Board of Directors in policy development and organizational oversight
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
You are a seasoned leader with a strong background in not-for-profit profit management and a passion for organizational success and community impact. You possess a strategic mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy and confidence.
You bring advanced knowledge and experience in:
Strategic and operational leadership
Financial and human resource management
Governance and Board relations
Stakeholder and government engagement
Non-for-profit or member-based organizations
Qualifications:
A master’s degree in business administration or a related field
At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in the non-for-profit sector or in a senior leadership position in a relevant environment.
Strong political acumen and relationship-building skills
Proven ability to lead both independently and collaboratively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight
Familiarity with BC’s agriculture sector is a definite asset
COMPENSATION
BCBC offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
Annual salary range: $110,000 – $125,000.
