Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for an immediate start to join a major offshore brownfields Engineering Service Contract partnering with a leading Oil & Gas operator. Based in Perth CBD, this is a 12-month contract, available as a full-time / part-time (job share) basis, with a view to permanency.

Reporting to the Head of Discipline, you will step up and into a dedicated client contract team. You will balance technical, team, client, and project leadership across onshore gas plants (including LNG) and offshore gas and condensate production facilities and thrive on the challenge of:

Working across a range of engineering projects at any phase including: - concept identification, selection and definition, FEED, detailed design/execute, commissioning and start-up, as-building, and closeout.
Setting clear technical direction for direct reports on any assigned projects and work scopes.
Representing the Instrumentation & Controls discipline in design reviews, HAZOPs, HazIDs and LOPA.
In this highly visible client facing role, your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Instrumentation & Controls engineering portion, while enabling the ongoing growth and development of your team. You will also work in close partnership with other disciplines and the client to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and asset portfolio.

Expected:

You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. If you have a visa application in progress, you are also encouraged to apply.

Suitably qualified in Mechatronics/ Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics Engineering from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven experience working in a similar Lead Instrumentation & Controls / Principal Instrumentation & Controls Engineering role, supported by 15+ years of relevant design engineering experience within the Oil & Gas production and / or processing industries.

In addition, you will:

Be recognized as an expert in Instrumentation & Controls engineering and have knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering, with experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment.
Be a leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and energising diverse teams to adopt best practice, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything we do.
Have a professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation with an ability to apply relevant technical practices, codes, and standards.
Be commercially astute with a “solutions mindset”, skilled in the management of risk during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements.
Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal) including well-developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills.
Have excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and commercial engineering programs.
Have a passion energy security / transition with the vision to navigate energy models of the future, coupled with your proven experience partnering with clients to be more efficient, sustainable, and optimised to deliver the best energy mix in their respective markets.
Be customer focused with an ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, while balancing operational excellence to contribute to the competitive advantage of #teamwood.
Desirable:

What will set you apart will be your previous experience working in a similar client facing leadership role on a major long term Engineering Service Contract in brownfields Oil & Gas. Experience in both Instrumentation & Control Systems Integration is highly desirable.
