We’re looking for an experienced Operations Specialist to support Serco Defence as we expand across New Zealand and the broader Asia Pacific. You’ll work with key Defence and Government stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical support and project management services under major Defence agreements. With a mix of remote and onsite work at locations such as Defence House (Wellington) and Devonport Naval Base (Auckland), you’ll play a vital role in strengthening Serco’s reputation as a trusted Defence partner.
As an Operations Specialist in the Defence team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Leading and supporting delivery of technical support services to MoD and NZDF
Supporting proposal and solution development for new business opportunities
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with Defence and Government stakeholders
Contributing to continuous improvement of delivery tools, processes and reporting
Managing Serco personnel and subcontractors as required by project needs
Mentoring and coaching staff on project management and capability integration

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
Extensive experience in the New Zealand Defence environment
Deep understanding of NZDF capability frameworks and project delivery
Experience in MoD and NZDF commercial and financial processes
A relevant qualification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2 or similar)
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
Eligibility for New Zealand security clearance and a valid Class C driver licence
