Full job description
Are you passionate about cultural exchange and fostering connections? Local Coordinators play a vital role in providing local support to families and au pairs engaged in our Au Pair USA program. This opportunity is well-suited for individuals residing in the San Francisco area who enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and serving as mentors. In this position, you'll have the chance to become acquainted with your local community and its childcare needs.

This flexible part-time remote role involves regular site visits and in-person activities within your local area, making it an excellent fit for someone interested in sales, marketing, and community outreach, with a basic knowledge of the local landscape. You'll be dedicated to building your local cluster of host families, enjoying financial benefits, and participating in our annual Au Pair USA Conference. As a Local Coordinator, you'll be part of a nationwide network supported by our Au Pair staff at our New York headquarters, all driven by a shared passion for making a positive impact.

Bring the opportunity for cultural exchange to your community through the enriching au pair experience!

What You’ll Do:

In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in acquainting your au pair with the local community while offering year-round support to both the family and the au pair. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of program administrative duties and hands-on coordination within your local cluster.

Hybrid Responsibilities:

Facilitate relationship building and conflict resolution in situations between a family and au pair, as well as, support participants in resolving issues that may arise in their program year

Network within your community and actively participate in grassroots marketing efforts

Maintain monthly record-keeping as required

Provide temporary emergency housing if the need arises for an au pair.

In-Person Responsibilities:

Conduct in-home interviews with prospective families (Living within a 60-mile radius of San Francisco is mandatory as per program regulations)

Organize monthly cultural events for the au pairs

Conduct orientations for new au pair arrivals

Coordinate an annual Family Day event for host families and au pairs

Provide support and/or short-term housing for au pairs. These are rare circumstances, however, the Local Coordinator must be able to support an au pair who is facing a temporary emergency situation and may need to offer them a safe place to land for a short period of time.

What You’ll Bring:

Effective Communication: Clearly conveys information with precision.

Commitment to Equity: Demonstrates a consistent dedication to fairness in all interactions.

Empathy: Displays understanding and sensitivity towards others' needs.

Problem-Solving Skills: Addresses challenges with creativity and efficiency.

Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting to changing circumstances and requirements.

Reliability: Demonstrates consistent and dependable work habits.

Marketing and Sales Skills: Possesses skills in marketing and sales to effectively recruit potential host families.

Planning: Able to create and execute the various duties that are required of the position autonomously.

Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.

Reliable access to a computer and the internet.

Able to attend domestic training and conferences as required.

Must provide professional references.

Legally able to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship.

Schedule & Payment Schedule:

Flexible part-time position, ideally suited for someone in the San Francisco metro area.

Hybrid Opportunity: position involves remote administration responsibilities with occasional in-person site visits required in the local area (monthly, to be specified).

Monthly Payment Schedule: Payment is issued monthly based on the successful completion of tasks and job duties at the end of each month. While the average compensation for an active Local Program Coordinator typically falls within the range of $30-40 per hour, it's important to clarify that this is not a set hourly rate.

InterExchange provides mileage reimbursement, and internet / cell phone stipend.

Local Program Coordinators in good standing who personally host an au pair are eligible for a special discount off program fees.
