Robert Half is working with a government organization seeking a dedicated Sr. Accountant to join their team in Tacoma, Washington on a permanent basis. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in managing and supervising accounting functions. This position involves overseeing and managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations, and providing detailed financial analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of governmental accounting principles. Responsibilities Include: Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and records ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with governmental regulations and accounting standards. Budget Management: Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of budgets. Provide variance analysis and forecasts to support decision-making processes. Audit Coordination: Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring all financial documentation and processes meet audit standards. General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and government regulations. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to senior management to support strategic planning and policy development. Supervision: Supervise and mentor entry level accounting staff, providing guidance and support for professional development. Internal Controls: Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial records. Grant Management: Oversee the financial management of grants, including tracking expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant terms, and preparing required reports. Governmental Accounting: Applying knowledge of governmental accounting standards in daily work. Pay Range and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $42-$54/hour, eligible for overtime pay.
