Provide intellectual and strategic leadership across Te Puni Kōkiri and wider public sector
Te Tari Matua, Pōneke | National Office, Wellington - Full Time, Fixed Term for 6 months
Te Puni Kōkiri leads policy advice to the Government on Māori development, and Iwi and Māori relations with the Crown. To do this effectively we must position ourselves to elevate our monitoring and mentoring responsibilities and emphasise our role in holding other agencies to account for delivery of public services to, for and with Māori.
Our Policy Puni is looking for a Tautōhito | Chief Advisor, Policy for a 6-month period to lead the development of strategic foresight-driven policy for Whānau Ora including a strategy to embed the Whānau Ora commissioning model and whānau-centred, locally led and government-enabled delivery approaches across the public sector.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
Reporting to General Manager, Policy, you will lead the development and implementation of initiatives that support the Whānau Ora approach to Māori wellbeing. You will provide expert advice to the key stakeholders and the Ministers on the Whānau Ora model and whānau centred delivery approaches. You will represent Te Puni Kōkiri in high-level forums and interagency work groups.
The likely appointment range is $180,014 (80%) - $225,018 (100%) based on skills and experience pro-rated for the period of the fixed term.
Mōu | About you
We are looking for a strong leader with a minimum of 20 years' experience in senior policy roles with a focus on Māori Development or Whānau Ora. You will an in-depth understanding, based on demonstrated experience on Whānau Ora commissioning and or, kaupapa Māori approaches, and Māori-led service delivery.
You will have demonstrated experience of strong relationships at a senior level across the Crown and with Iwi and Māori stakeholders.
