Full job description
Play a key role in shaping assurance at Kiwibank, help embed good practices and support a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Work across diverse operational risk and compliance assurance activities, including control and thematic reviews, and attestation exercises.
Be part of a purpose-led, collaborative team, where your ideas are valued and your growth is supported in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Ko tātou tēnei - Hei hāpai ake i a koe | This is us. Where you matter.

Kiwibank is undergoing a significant transformation, with a clear mandate to strengthen our capital position, enhance our competitiveness, and set ourselves up for long-term success. This period of change brings exciting opportunities, as we invest in innovation, evolve our ways of working, and shape the future of banking in New Zealand. If you're looking for a dynamic environment where you can make an impact, now is the perfect time to join us.

Kō tātou tēnei. Hei kawe i ngā mahi kia tutuki | This is us. Where making an impact matters.

As part of our Risk function, the Assurance team helps drive a strong, positive risk culture across the bank. We’ve got a great opportunity for an intermediate-level Assurance Advisor to join our supportive and collaborative Second Line team.

You’ll be supporting the roll-out of our Enterprise Assurance Standard, embedding solid assurance practices and helping to lift assurance maturity across Kiwibank. You’ll be hands-on with a range of second line assurance activities, including control and approach to compliance (ATC) reviews and thematic reviews. You’ll also help report on assurance outcomes, provide input into remediation plans, and track open issues to resolution.

Another key part of your role will be supporting the execution of our six-monthly Executive Attestation exercise, helping to challenge responses and evidence, and ensuring our board has what it needs for disclosure signoffs.

Ko tātou tēnei. Kia hāpai i ō pūkenga |This is us. Where your expertise matters.

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in assurance, someone who’s naturally curious, thoughtful in their approach, and great at building relationships. You’ll also bring:

A proven track record in assurance, preferably within a Third and / or Second Line role.
Confidence in applying risk management, compliance, and assurance principles and practices. This includes an understanding of control design and operating effectiveness testing and the assurance review lifecycle.
Experience in financial services (or similar regulated environments).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, partner, and build rapport across different teams and levels of seniority.
Skilled at analysing complex problems and presenting clear and structured findings.
Capability to manage multiple deliverables, navigate ambiguity, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You’ll thrive here if…

You enjoy working as part of a supportive, purpose-driven team that values innovation and continuous improvement. You’re someone who contributes ideas, challenges the status quo in constructive ways, and thrives on building better ways of working.
